UNFAIR TENNIS FEES DISCOURAGE USE OF COURTS
For the last couple of decades, a failed experiment to charge fees to rent the former 12 courts have resulted in a significant under-utilization. Rather than correcting a mistake, the park district is doing just the opposite. They have proposed to RAISE the counter-productive $5 fee to $20 or $25 per hour. This will continue to force our residents to travel to ALL of the other 127 park district FREE LOCATIONS. This proposal is simply UNFAIR PRICE DISCRIMINATION.

The Chicago Park District hides this TENNIS COURT FEE DISCRIMINATION by NOT including the FREE information on their website (as of today March 16, 2016). They require everyone to CALL all 128 tennis court locations to find this information.
The park district officials further denied an Illinois Freedom of Information request to obtain this information for all 128 tennis locations.
Yesterday our Chicago citizens received their official reply:
"RESPONSE: Please note that each park (that has tennis facilities) sets its own fee structure there is not an overall policy and/or criteria. As the March 4, 2016 response stated the Chicago Park District has more than 590 parks and playlots and since your request does not include the name of the park(s) for which you are seeking documents it is unclear what documents you are requesting.
You may renew your request by providing the name(s) of the park(s) for which you are seeking documents. "
So, now we know the Chicago Park District has NO FEE POLICY.
